24/05/2013 Relief and Anticipation

01:55

I released the Citron EP 20/05/2013. Over four years in the making! Obviously not continuous labour. It was probably about 100 hours work - original recordings, 2011 remix, 2012 remix, artwork etc. It is nice to actually complete something. Now available on Bandcamp via my home page.

I've drawn up a new gearlist for 2013. I need a new MIDI keyboard, so I'll probably get hold of an Axiom 49. I want to try a hardware synth, but don't want to spend a lot of money in case I don't get along with it, so I'm probably going to go for a Waldorf Rocket. I'd like some new VSTis too. I hope to purchase Harmor and Zebra sometime soon. Next project is the Ghosts remix A roughly levelled version of the original featured on the Ambientonline podcast earlier this week.

Things are happening. I have been thinking about new hardware. My MIDI keyboard was damaged in 2010, and as I plan to start making new tracks later this year, my need for a replacement becomes more pressing. I was thinking about possibly combining this with a synth purchase and buying a single unit capable of performing both functions. I wasn't entirely convinced that the sounds available would be suitable for my purposes, so I am now looking at the possibility of acquiring a separate low-priced hardware synth and the Waldorf Rocket looks like it may fit the bill.

Today I have been working on the "artwork" for the Citron EP. This should finally see the light of day this week. In other seismic news, I am on the ambientonline podcast #6 this week. The featured artist on here will be VennDiagram.

12/05/2013 Confusion/Overload

I've got so much going on at the moment, that it's hard to get anything productive done. I completed the remix of East Coast Mainline on Monday.  It wasn't too difficult a job, and I'm fairly happy with the result. I have just completed a very rough mix of Ghosts (basic levelling only, no EQ, panning, FX or mastering). Hopefully, it will be included in AO podcast #6. I hope it will be as well received as Axis Part 1. Outstanding jobs include a rough sleeve for 2 Burning Bridges, A rear sleeve insert for the Citron EP, completing the remix of Ghosts and sorting out a lot of paperwork at home. I would also like to find time to listen to some of the CDs I have purchased over the last 18 months!
